Executive Suite Completed on Schedule
When planning for renovations to the Atlanta Administration and Conference Center (AACC) to create a new Executive Suite, Mercer University chose Emery & Associates for their experience working on the campus and for their expertise in delivering quality renovation projects without disturbing occupied spaces. The project included renovating 6,100 square feet on the fifth floor of the AACC building in order to create a new Executive Conference Room and office suite for the University President and new offices for the Educational Leadership Program.
The project was organized into multiple phases to allow for relocation of the affected departments, while also ensuring Mercer University’s new Physical Therapy and Anatomy Laboratories project – also completed by Emery & Associates – was ready on time for classes to begin in the fall semester. To keep both projects on track, Emery created separate construction teams for each, with both teams working simultaneously and coordinating a single master schedule. This allowed for the most efficient use of resources throughout both projects, and helped minimize potential disruptions to the University.
Size and weight limitations of the existing building’s elevator meant bulk construction materials had to be hoisted to the fifth floor by crane and loaded through an existing window. Effective safety and environmental plans implemented by Emery & Associates ensured all construction was completed without presenting hazards to the building’s occupants or disrupting daily campus business.
All projects have been completed in a timely manner and without undue disruption to normal university activities…. Final results, including the high level of finishes, and the ongoing follow-through, are always excellent.
